"ÁCIDO Y PUTO'" features illustrations by Borja Fresno Benítez and Carlos Bedmar, and is available on CD and digital formats through Small Stone Recordings, as well as limited opaque blue vinyl (250 copies) via Kozmik Artifactz.
The album opens with the over-eight-minute track "Space Nomad," which blends a bluesy soul with heavy-psych elements, reminiscent of the trippy moments of TEN YEARS AFTER. The track's vintage atmosphere, steeped in wah-wah and funky rhythms, transitions into a heavier space, with thick riffs and psychedelic guitar work. This journey through different styles maintains its shamanic essence, making "Space Nomad" a striking, lysergic experience. Tracks like “Free Ride” highlight the band’s fascination with desert rock and acid-tinged psychedelia, with a sound that captivates and reflects the album’s title.
"Outsider" brings the legacy of desert pioneers to the forefront, with a groovy, fuzz-driven track that recalls the raw energy of bands like NEBULA. The powerful rhythm section and Borja's distinctive vocals make this a neck-breaking highlight of the album.
The nearly ten-minute "Kosmic Swell" returns to longer compositions, offering a vocal-free, meditative psychedelic jam that creates a narcotic atmosphere, taking the listener on a sensory journey. "Vice" revisits a '70s sound, with cosmic effects and thick riffs that evoke the influence of FU MANCHU.
The crown jewel, "Nazaré," is a tribute to the famous Portuguese surf spot, blending effects and distortions in a rhythmic, yet hypnotic track that stands as FREE RIDE's most valuable legacy. It merges the sounds of EARTHLESS, NEBULA, and FU MANCHU into an unexpected sonic journey.
"Steamroller" delivers raw energy with a muddy, diffuse sound that combines orthodox stoner moments with a punk edge. "Joy" is a classic in FREE RIDE's live performances, featuring a catchy riff and Borja's wild vocals, merging '70s and '90s influences.
Continuing the Stoner exploration, "Blackout" is a powerful, psychedelic track perfect for desert drives, while "Living For Today," with its colorful acoustic opening, evokes the legacy of desert rock pioneers, offering a groovy track with unexpected twists and a more commercial touch. This album is a must-listen for fans of raw desert sounds.
