This year's "Keep it Low" is a who's who of the entire stoner and desert rock scene. OK, there's a bit of post-rock, thrash and doom too. Sound of Liberation is simply going "all in" and it's going to be a fantastic line-up. And in one of the best venues in Germany, namely the Backstage in Munich. Three venues, depending on the band's popularity: the factory for 1000 - 1300 spectators, the hall for around 300 spectators and the club for around 150-200 spectators. There is a small downside, as Monster Magnet will be playing at the "Theaterfabrik" in Munich on the same weekend and not as headliner at the "Keep it Low".
And if the weather is a golden October, the beer garden around the 3 venues is also open. The best conditions for a fitting birthday party. It all started in 2013 in Feierwerk, Munich. Our first Keep it Low was in 2014, also in Feierwerk. The line-up back then included Brain Police, Kadavar, Mars Red Sky, Monkey3, The Shrine, Valley Of The Sun, Blues Pills, The arkanes and The Vintage Caravan. It's always interesting to look back, because in 10 years the organizer has not only added new bands, but also a new, younger audience. Bands like Slomosa, Aptera and Zerre didn't exist in 2014, and neither did their fans. While Feierwerk was sold out with 400 spectators in 2014, Backstage will be sold out with around 1500 spectators in 2024. Sound of Liberation have created a pull that music lovers can't escape. For me, these 10 years are comparable to the years 1979 - 1989, when heavy metal developed from an underground movement into a mass movement. The numerous well-attended festivals and tours are proof enough that this actually conservative music offers a lot of space for innovations and directions that fascinate music freaks between 17 and 70 years of age.
