Haze to Burn(ITA) - Across the Universe

When I was a child, we went to Italy to eat delicious ice cream, pasta and pizza. You can still do that today, but we the Heavystoned-Team goes to Italy to see really good stoner bands live. The next ones will be Haze to Burn from Pistoia. The first two tracks with titles like "Soul Shaker" and "Brain Blast" clean your head, as the titles say. The band really puts their foot on the gas and rocks straight forward, before falling into more groovy heavy psychedelic rock with "Black Widow". A little break like that is good for the neck muscles, because "Midnight Ace" comes by at full speed and kicks up a lot of dust. "The Man Behind" and "No Signal" are the typical doom songs that I will like better live, because the band will definitely pick up the pace a bit. "Deny" oscillates between doomy and punky parts, so it doesn't get boring while listening, while the following "Stray" skilfully mixes grunge and doomy stoner rock and remains very groovy. The closing title track is a 13-minute drug-fuelled jam that even Color Haze couldn't do better. So if you're ever in Italy, keep an eye out for this band. And if their brutal sound comes across anywhere near as well live as it does digitally, it's going to be a monster of a concert.
