My friend Tomas, tour manager and Swiss Army knife of "Villagers of Ioannina City" sent me a Spotify link of his brother's band. He told me to take a listen. Then I go to Spotify and listen to this three-person symphony orchestra and am speechless at the countless layers of synthesizers and harmonies. The band name is the effect of how this effect is used to get a broad and dense sound with just a few instruments. The whole album seems like a concept album to me from the titles, as if you were watching a 70s science fiction series or film. There's a bit of "Kraftwerk", a bit of "Can", "King Crimson" and "Yes" in there, but with a more rock-oriented drum kit. It's pointless to discuss the individual songs because they actually flow into one another and create a logical sequence of sounds and styles. The individual songs are even danceable, despite all the complexity in terms of rhythm and style. Of course it sounds very much like space, but it is not the "classic" space rock à la Hawkwind or Monster Magnet, because the music has a preponderance of electronic sounds over guitar sounds. The Greek trio manages to create a maximally dense sound and maximally interesting music with minimal instrumentation, which keeps the listener hooked until the end. The visual implementation of the sound will also be interesting. If you combine the music with the right program for controlling the light, this will be one of my insider tips for the upcoming summer festivals.
