Quintana (USA) - Eternity
Daily Peaks · 08.04.2025
Quintana is the solo project of Dusty Donley – guitarist of Mississippi Bones – and Eternity is his second full-length release under this name. It’s one of those albums that doesn’t scream for attention but earns it, track by track. From the start, Eternity brings thick riffs, heavy grooves, and a grunge feeling that stays throughout the whole record. The first track, “Timeless”, opens with a strong guitar and drums combo – direct, punchy, and without any extra fluff. You know...

Stacey Crowne (USA) - Second to None
Heavystoned Albums · 26.03.2025
Five years after her debut, Stacy Crowne returns with Second To None – and no, the title ain’t just empty words. These guys still don't believe in brakes or ballads. What do we get instead? Twelve shots of dirty, sweaty, and absolutely unpolished rock'n'roll. The kind that smells like beer, dust, and broken promises – just the way we like it. From the first seconds of "Giving Up On You", the band kicks in the door like it owes them money. The riffs are sharp, the vocals have that raw...

Fifteen Stiches (USA) - Beyond the Wall
Daily Peaks · 02.02.2025
If you ever planned to travel to Seattle to hear your favorite 90s music or even meet a band there, you can save yourself the trouble by listening to the Tacoma based band "Fifteen Stiches" or buying their records. A best of 90's cross-section, starting with raunchy punk, grunge, glam rock, groove metal à la "Pantera", packed into compact songs with an average length of 2-3 minutes. Many thanks to the band for packing all these styles into different songs and not writing 15-minute prog rock...

Dunes (GBR) - Land of the Blind
Daily Peaks · 22.11.2024
With the majority of stoner bands, you have to be happy that a reasonably experienced singer is singing. The English band Dunes has the luxury of having two excellent voices, which alone stand out from the grey mush of "only" lower-pitched music. They have also packed their musical roots such as alternative rock and grunge into a fluffy, booming sound corset, which is very direct, straight and hits the mark. So far, only two songs are available on bandcamp, namely "Voodoo" and "Riding the Low",...

Coma Hole (USA) - Hand of Severance
Daily Peaks · 02.11.2024
The opening track “Alphaholics” kicks off with that chaotic sound of a radio channel-surfing through stations, like it can’t quite make up its mind. Then, out of nowhere, a muffled groove breaks through, and suddenly – BANG! Coma Hole jumps in with a bassline thick as a brick, Anderson's drums pounding tightly behind. Fir’s vocals hit with a blend of angst and melody that’s as raw as it is catchy. It’s a bold opener, and frankly, it could stand alongside the best...

Möuth (SWE) - Dirt
Daily Peaks · 30.10.2024
A promising single by Swedish rockers Möuth. That´s the way I like it, I could listen to it förever (Thank you Lem!) A quite Rock´n Roll-based piece of kick-ass with decent Stoner and Grunge sound, always pushing forward. It´s not that difficult to write these kind of songs which are to less played on stage. This is a band and a style you join on a festival and you leave with a smile. A fantastic appetizer for the upcoming album.

1000mods (GRE) - Cheat Death
Daily Peaks · 08.10.2024
1000mods have slowly grown up and can now draw on a larger music library than on their previous albums. The guitars are no longer tuned so low, Dani's voice has probably found a new inspiration from Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins). In general, this album is the Greek version of Smashing Pumpkins' work "Mellon Cllie and the Infinite Sadness", as the band presents a much larger range of musical styles that don't really fit together. That's what makes this album so exciting. The almost 8-minute...

Silverships (GER) - Kingdom of Decay
Daily Peaks · 21.09.2024
Ze Germans chose a fitting band name in my opinion, consisting of part Silvermachine and part Jefferson Starship or even Ship of Fools by The Doors. And you can find these influences in their music. The opener *Kingdom Of Decay* starts softly, with Jan Gehrmann's hypnotic bass and Tim Schröter's groove leading into Nils Kock's melodic guitar and velvety vocals. The song grows heavier after the second chorus, with fuzz guitars adding weight and a stoner rock outro. *Beast* follows, blending...

Slomosa (NOR) - Toundra Rock
Heavystoned Albums · 09.09.2024
The album kicks off with "Afghansk Rev," which doesn't waste time—straight out the gate, it's a psychedelic, riff-heavy trip that sets the mood for the whole show. Then, we get blasted with "Rice," a stoner rock wrecking ball that's 100% SLOMOSA at their finest: gutsy, grungy, and packing a chorus that lodges itself in your brain like it's paying rent. "Cabin Fever" rolls in next, keeping the volume cranked and the energy high, but with a twist—some bluesy vibes and a riff that screams...

The Underdogs (ITA) - Nine Ties
Heavystoned Albums · 06.09.2024
Okay, we are making an acoustic Molotov cocktail here. Take the "F**k you"-attitude of Nick Olivieri, the cripping voice of John Garcia, a hardcore punk sound, and a drummer with the pedal to the metal. Yes, could be one of the best forward rocking record of this year. Actually, it´s not that difficult; 4 steps down tuned guitars, a bit of hardcore breaks and oriented by the faster Kyuss-songs like "Green Machine", "100°" and others. The first three songs ("Dogs reunited", "Knockin´on...
