The Swedish band 10,000 Years released their 1st single "High Noon in Sword City" from their new album "All Quite on the Final Frontier". We see Tool in the name and Iron Maiden on behalf of the album. In the sound we discover the less brutal version of Morne's vocals, little fuzz, a lot of power, a dose of metal and the right speed to blow the entire venue on the back of the wall. Wow. I'm really looking forward to the album. I hope it only has such 3-4 minutes banger. Really great!
Hailing from Berlin, Grin offers us a raging and violent mix embeded in a groovy version of Neurosis. The band dissolves the static song structure of Neurosis and made them a bit more agile, almost dancable. The rage is listenable and feels real. To compare this first release with their first ever release, the latest is more accesible than their debut. For fans of powerful walls of noise you have to check this band out.
Finally.. One of my absolutely favorite bands released an album after a long break. I was really excited to read the announcement that Morne will release "Engraved with Pain" on November 3rd on Metal Blade Records. Bang!
Witchrat (UK?) sounds like a bastard of Toundra, Crippled Black Phoenix and Morne, sometimes fragile and gazing, next song the opposite.. devastating mantra-like heavy riffs and shredding guitars. Sometimes there´re some vocals, they don´t disturb and I don´t know if they server to what kind of purpose? The instrumental parts pour out depression and anger and despair. Absolutely worth to listen, an trippy experience through endless lingering guitar walls.
