In my opinion, the Swiss band Six Months of Sun is, alongside the French band "The Necromancers", one of the most talented bands in terms of songwriting, technical skills and artwork. But somehow both bands seem to be happy with their status as semi-professional weekend bands. Deafslow did a good job to warm up the audience; distorted bass sound with a lot of fuzzy guitars playing in the style of Fu Manchu, Kyuss, spiced with two excellent voices. In fact, there was nothing new, but the music went straight, without surprising the audience and was good to bang your head. The cover looks like the usual Post Rock covers and if you tune in the song, it´s more like the wolf in sheep´s clothing. Mr Bison from Cecina are my declared successors to Yes. I don't know how this band manages to not only copy the complex sound of the prog forefathers, but to expand it even further and incorporate elements such as harmony singing and polyphonic guitars. The fewer tags an album needs, the straighter the music is. This is what happened with the New Zealand band Sidewinder. They go through the entire history of stoner in just under 3 minutes with fat riffs, a fat fuzz guitar and a cutting, aggressive female voice. A fantastic appetizer for the album that will be released in August 2024.

There was a San Francisco based band in 1982 who first get the NWoBHM to US by playing their riffs and songs faster. The press called it Thrash Metal and the band called Metallica. Could be difficult to appreciate this record after the loss of Alex and Josh and it takes a few listenings to get into this record. It´s not the straight ahead thing as on their previous records, everything sounds quite controlled, even Ryan´s voice. A pithy cover and absolute reliability regarding melodies, guitar work, vocal lines and drive. It's a shame that this band has so far been denied greater recognition. Tom Hanks' voice and his guitar playing, tightly meshed with Jeff Hensom's guitar, reach an almost Maidenesque quality on this track. This track swings and grooves so much that pure headbanging is downright one-dimensional; you have to boogie and bang your head.

Some songs create associations which I have to express by my own creativity. I checked my Bandcamp algorithm and stumbled over King of None from Finland. After listening for 20 seconds or so I had these pictures in my head when I traveled for the first time through the Egyptian desert in 1990 and listened to "Wasteland" by "The Mission".
