Berlin’s neànder returns with their latest single Ultra, and if you’re not yet familiar with their potent cocktail of post-rock, shoegaze, drone, and sludge, this track is your invitation aural initiation. The band—three guitarists and a drummer, no bass in sight—crafts a rich, immersive sound that’s as heavy as it is atmospheric. Ultra opens with a brooding, slow-burn build, each guitar weaving layers of echoing melodies that creep up on you, until the inevitable sludge-infused wall...
After the split of the Spanish post-rock band Toundra in 2023, which has not yet been resolved, the throne for their successor is still vacant. The Italian trio "Platonick Dive" has what it takes to be the heir to the throne with the previously released 4th single "'Too Beautiful To Die Too Wild To Live'. As with the 3rd single Faro, the Italians, the only post-rock band I know of, manage to create a lot of atmosphere within a few minutes with very little effort. In contrast to the majority of...
I would actually listen to a lot more post-rock if the voice suited the music, the sound wasn't too mushy and the songs had a certain structure and thus recognition value. And then by chance an email comes from Bandcamp, suggesting 5 bands to me and one of them is Remina from New Zealand. This band really manages to create a cathedral of a transparent, clear sound that seems to float above everything despite all the heaviness. Responsible for this lightness is the fantastic voice of Heike...
We could never get used to this band; we found the name just as repulsive as the Spanish Inquisition costume. These two aspects are diametrically opposed to the music of the band from Salamanca; since 2012, the band has been serving up the finest post-rock with numerous changes in dynamics and tempo, as well as influences from noise, doom or ambient, which demands a lot of attention from the listener. This is also the case with their new single "El silencio de un Gesto". It's not really new,...
I checked the daily news on my personal bandcamp algoritm and found the album. The song "Los Altares" started to soak me into a mesmerizing track between Sólstafir and My Sleeping Karma and a huge, semi-desert landscape with a mountain range in the back built up in front of my inner eyes. Then I read the band information and the band wrote "Patagonian band, Patagonian sound". Another example for that you can put a person out of the country, but you can´t put out the country out of a person....
Witchrat (UK?) sounds like a bastard of Toundra, Crippled Black Phoenix and Morne, sometimes fragile and gazing, next song the opposite.. devastating mantra-like heavy riffs and shredding guitars. Sometimes there´re some vocals, they don´t disturb and I don´t know if they server to what kind of purpose? The instrumental parts pour out depression and anger and despair. Absolutely worth to listen, an trippy experience through endless lingering guitar walls.
